LovefunArt Student Review:

Berly-Since I didn’t have any experience in art, I started to prepare my portfolio for OCAD one year before my application. Hence, I would be in front of my computer screen all day to sketch. Until two month before the application deadline, my friend asked me “why haven’t you started to prepare your portfolio? How come you are still sketching?”. I realized that I needed to show my strengths and skills in my portfolio, and I still had a lot to prepare. Then my friend introduced me to LoveFunArt, they analysed what I was missing, and managed a schedule. I did some industrial designs, some illustrations, and some weaving projects. I successfully got an offer from OCAD in this short amount of time. I am truly grateful for that! This year, will be my third year, and it is quite stressful at OCAD. I recommend to self-taught some graphic design and adobe software for people who are applying industrial.

Reviews of OCAD U:

OCAD takes creativity seriously, always has, always will –  and as an alumna it trained me well for all things in life. It was rigorous training, don't expect to be flaky in any way, you would be called out for it.

In a world there's everything DIY, and usually it's free to Do-it-Yourself. Everything except creative talent. Yes you can be born with a natural inclination to be creative,  yet it has to be nurtured to excel in all ways. The flow, the energy, the discovery of re-imagining in this right side of the brain process contributes to growth in all ways, whether it's business graphics and design or EQ and spiritual or mental personal evolution. Thanks OCAD for being a pillar in the Canadian quest for creative excellence.____Karen Hogg

I loved studying here. It is hard, really hard, tho x). You won't sleep and you will barely have any free time, but it is worth it. There are amazing professionals teaching here and they will help you build up your future as an artist. But to get the best out of your time here, you have to be involved, talk to your instructors about your interests, and be eager to learn.____Nikole McGregor

OCAD is a great place to study. Many of my closest friends and colleagues are fellow alumni. Every university has growing pains and some issues with their facilities. Nonetheless, it is still the best art and design school in the country and we should all be proud of our alma mater and the unparalleled quality of its instructors. The future looks promising for a completely new campus to accommodate our growing student body. I'm looking forward to all of the exciting possibilities.____Art Works

Reviews of Emily Carr University:

As with any school, experiences from people like "forti L" are expected. At ECU, it's certainly not the norm, but if you're an unmotivated write off, you're going to lose out on experiences. There's very little hand holding at Emily Carr University. There are many good teachers, a few amazing ones, and a few terrible ones, just like any other school. Clear and regular communication is necessary with teachers to ensure you maximize what you get out of your education. Many people who've complained about the school are ones who regularly sit in the class and do so quietly, while rarely or never speaking up and interacting in the discussions. It's no surprise they end up feeling ripped off; They wasted their best chance at a quality education by sitting on the side lines and watching life go by. For those looking to go into technology-heavy areas of art/design, be wary about your expectations. They are not bleeding edge here, and those that make the most of their education here see that the analog parallels are far more beneficial than learning strictly one area/medium. This school has a great balance between course costs and quality of education. It's one of the world's best schools, but not THE best, and it's worlds above the worst of the lot.____David Metcalfe

Reviews at Carleton University:

I will give an idea of few things for international students. I was one among them last year. I wish I had known. To get your upass, student is when you come in, go to the university center second floor above the food court. Then to eat something, food courts are there at, sports complex, university center and residence complex. Apart from this there is gym at the sports complex, you need an ID card and proper gym clothes to access. Here you have a changing room too. Indian students who study here are mostly electrical or mechanical students. So for them, McKenzie is where the elec subjects are there. Apart from this, all you have to know is bus number 7,101,111,4 comes here to the bus stop outside the minto complex. There is facility of train 🚊 too opposite to bus stop. You will learn after you go to college and come back twice or thrice.____Srinidhi Jony

I just love it here at Carleton! Everything about it: from my professors and fellow students to a remarkable teaching and learning experience;  from the scenic campus environment and the weather-friendly tunnel to the numerous green areas you can hang out and relax during spring and summer days. The bus and train services in and out of the campus are really good and super convenient, some running past midnight. There's a lot more but I don't want to make this too long.____Dean Chimezie

It’s a great university, not only in Alberta, but also across the Canada. You know, this year, it got the third rank among Canadian universities. Different faculties, great environment, awesome professors, and of course, excellent students are what you can easily find there. Very beautiful campus, because it’s located near the Saskatchewan River and the surrounding nature provides a completely quiet and suitable environment for study and research. University of Alberta conveys a friendly campus atmosphere and offers large variety of academic programs to choose.____Abbas Sobhi

When I attended many years ago, it embraced diversity and provided an excellent opportunity for developing character through meaningful discussions while attending to the rigid academic schedule. Profs cared and guided in a very real manner. I sense that the same quality education accompanied with acceptance and encouragement is still a driving force.____Evelyn Abell

Great faculty, library, and supports. As a graduate of an online graduate program, I cannot speak to the actual facilities, but the experience was excellent.____Chris Flint
